THE WEDDING PART 2

woohoo the sun is out - and hopefully its here to stay (fingers crossed) we are going to be at The Big Chill this coming weekend so its the news we've been waiting for. I'll post more about it later but if you've got tickets come and visit us next to the dressing up tent.
...It was a dark and windy night, more friends arrived, some brave souls had to set up in the rain, some were luckier - our new spacious bell tent had a couple of guests for the night, some even luckier scored a spare yurt to sleep in. With the rain lashing down and the tent-a-flapping we slept with everything crossed...
"I can hear Tess laughing" those were the words I woke up to the next morning. I leapt out of my bed, nearly tripping over our stowaways. Crossing the muddy threshold I unzipped the door and in came the sun. I spotted Tess crossing the field in long cardi, wellies and not much else, she looked gorgeous as usual, it was going to be great day!
THE WEDDING PART 1

(Apologies for our recent dissapearance. Things seem to be so hectic around here what with organising hens/weddings/festivals/babies that our lovely little web home gets a bit neglected sometimes! however we do endeavour to make this website better and better and thankfully things go a bit quiet in August so you may see a few more changes around these parts.)
Tess's camping wedding was a complete success you'll all be glad to hear - despite the rain! when we got to the site on the wednesday it was a glorious dry balmy night and we sat outside watching the sunset and eating freshly caught mackerel (thanks to chris) we had seen the forecast but things were looking very positive. Thursday was another fine day - even hot at times!!! Tess and I had been asked to do some filming for a programme called the great little escape so the film crew came and filmed us putting up my original 70's tent (I managed to fall over while doing so) then they asked us a load of questions (I managed to say eco system when I meant to say micro climate) then we cooked some delicious food on the campfire (I managed to just about cover up the fact that I had just taken the roof of my mouth off - note to self, food that has just come out of a fire is very hot - I really should know that by now!) all in all it was a bit of a comedy of errors for me so I'm hoping the editing will be kind...
Meanwhile the boys were making some beautiful benches out of lengths of tree trunks, bark intact, to seat all 130 guests. they started off with a saw but after realising that they would in reality be seating more like 50 there was an emergency trip to the plant hire to get a chainsaw. Basically that meant one person having a go on the chainsaw and 5 guys standing around wishing they could have a go on the chainsaw. benches done, the marquee was up, the hire stuff had arrived and we had another delicious meal outdoors on a warm night... (see pic)
Friday came and the rain decided to pay a visit. But we weren't put off. Just as we got started I had a migraine (which for me means gradually going blind/headache/sickness/numbness) and was sent back to my tent (luckily for me it wasnt a bad one and it really wasnt that bad lying in my lovely new bell tent) when i returned to civilisation the lovely lady isla and pole climbing pietro had finished off hoisting up the lengths of colourful fabric and glitterballs into the arches of the marquee and the ladies had decorated the outsides with tons of bunting and lighting it was looking mighty fine, people were arriving, delicious curry was being made, dough was being pounded for the purathas, it was all coming together and as we all replaced shoes with wellies (my preferred option) or bare feet (mama carrs preffered option) we wondered, and hoped; was the sun going to return for the big day?...
RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

With love and laughter

now if only all of us could remain ever children we could breeze through this weather (no pun intended) but we're going to have to join Little Mae in some sort of negative rain dance, its Tess's wedding next week, eek!!
