HONEYMOONING

Well we (Tess, Karn and the Elf) are finally going on our honeymoon..... we are off to explore tuscany and stay in a friends parents little cottage up in the hills near Lucca. We are gonna eat lots of pasta, do lots of walking and exploring and drink lots of wine and eat lots of pasta! Yum Yum!! And then we are coming back and spending the last few days of our honeymoon in Cornwall. We are going to the beach where it all started and getting our last camping fix of the year and staying at Trevendra Farm which has great sea views and its own little beach where you can make a fire and cook your dinner!
If you have any other secret gem campsites in west cornwall let us know. We will tell all when we get back.
See you soon

KEEPING WARM

Happy Camper Digger on the forum asked for tips on how to keep warm - one of my favourite subjects so thought I would post my reply here too just in case anyone else wanted to hear my tips. If you have anything to add you can reply in the forum here, I'd love to hear your ideas...

KEEPING WARM AT CAMP

you can get quite a lot of cold from the ground so no matter what sort of bed you have - air bed/roll mat/sponge mattress/futon roll I always reccommend a good thick sheepskin underneath you, they are really great insulators. if you haven't got a sheepskin just remember that its not just whats on top of you that keep you warm at night but also whats underneath.

the same idea goes for when your sitting round the campfire - sit on something insulated and you won't get a cold bum!

you loose a lot of heat through your extremities so a wooly hat is a must if its cold (remember it gets cold at night even in summer) Thick wool socks and leather boots are also great for this.

don't forget wind proof stuff - jumpers that have felted are great for that

I also take a blanket that I dont mind taking outside, then you can huddle up together and steal someone elses body heat.

the best way to keep warm is a campfire but not all sites allow them. if you're getting really cold force yourself to run round your tent 5 times or play a silly game that involves movement. You'll get your blood going which will definitely warm you up. I also reccommend this for just before you go to bed - if your warm when you go to bed you'll stay warm.

last thing - lucky for me I have a lovely 13 tog goose feather and down duvet which is much to hot for our warm city flat so i feel justified in using its luxury when camping - I've not been cold since and sleep like a baby!

Happy Camping
love

Make camp while the sun shines

The days are getting shorter and the mornings a bit chillier but the sun is still shining so why not get in another fews days of camping. We (me and the family) went to the Bestival on the isle of wight and had an amazing few days......the sun shone, everyone dressed up as pirates and the elf was amazing and loved every minute. She was passed round from pillar to post but she lapped it up enjoying all the attention! But festivalling with a baby is quite different from without..... I was in bed at 8.30 every night but I loved it and feel completely revived!
We (the Kat and I) are going to try another camp next week if the weather holds and go and get some blackberries and make pie...yum yum.
See you soon

I WANT ONE!

Just got my lomo newsletter and have fallen in love with the Diana

do you think its too early to write to santa?

"Back in the 1960’s, a small firm in Hong Kong – the Great Wall Plastics Factory – created a dirt-cheap 120 camera called the “Diana.” Crafted entirely of plastic, each camera cost about a dollar. As a mainstream product, the Diana was pretty much a failure – and was discontinued in the 1970’s. But like any superstar cut down in their prime, the Diana’s posthumous appeal skyrocketed. As a cult artistic tool of avant-garde and lo-fi photographers, it was a rousing success! They loved its soft & dreamy images, super-saturated colors, unpredictable blurring, and random contrast. Diana shots are raw & gritty, with a character all their own. They simply cannot be duplicated by any other camera on Earth! In short order, the Diana rose to prominence as one of the most treasured and sought-after cult analog cameras from the late 70’s onward."
