Fab campsite with fantastic views. Toilets and showers are clean and theres a useful little shop. You can't book unless you are part of an organised group so turn up early. When we went it was mostly active people - none of the bring your own picnic table and sofa camping types. The best bit though is the walking as paths to the Langdales are just at the campsite. THe Old Dungeon Gill pub is pretty good too!

We have used this camp site several times and have always found it fantastic. It is good for scenery, hillwalking, relaxing and exploring, Frequented by Hillwakers in tiny tents and 'comfy' campers in bigger dome tents alike. The people who come here tend to be very respectful of the campsites reasonable rules. Large portions of decent food are served in the nearby pub. There are good facilities on site including a drying room and tumble dryers. The two blocks of showers and toilets are good but not flash - which is in line with the not too flash natural comp site that this is. The no booking policy is a bonus - I should imagine that many of the people who come here are not the booking sort anyway. Just get there early and phone ahead to check there is space.

We stayed here over Easter March 21-24 2008, and loved it. Set between the beau fells of the Langdales it's a delight to wake up to. Toilets are good, showers very hot and free, and they allowed are little camper 'Bert' to park up by the grass by his tent friends. perfect walks from the site, 2 good pubs nearby Old Ghyll for a real walker ambience and the Stickle Tarn tavern which is just larger but still nice. There's a seperate site for groups and families. It's a first come served site, but we didn't have any problems turning up, perhaps because it was snowing! They let dogs in too but i think they charge a few quid. We paid £12 per night all in. So chuffed we found this little gem, it's a very special place.
