"Stubcroft Campsite is situated on an environmentally friendly working sheep farm close to sandy beaches, Chichester Harbour and the South Downs. The peaceful private lanes and grounds surrounding the farm make it an ideal holiday for families and couples wishing to escape the pressures of modern life. The farm is a sustainable, environmentally friendly family farm and the campsite is run in keeping with that ethos. The site is set in a level paddock nearby. The camping field has been planted with new wildlife conservation hedges and trees planted to provide more shelter and privacy. There is a wealth of wildlife on the farm with over 72 species of birds identified; deer, hedgehogs, foxes, rabbits, rare butterflies and much more"

We only stayed here for one night, but the owners were very welcoming and gave a detailed map of the facilities which was helpful. What we liked about this site, was the basic facilities we prefer the no-frills campsites, eco-friendly, rural location, not too noisy, you can pitch where you wants as long as you are not too close to other campers. It was busy when we camped but had a lovely atmosphere. All the campers were very friendly which was a plus for us with a sociable, nosy just walking 12month old. Good location close to Witterings would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 4 nights early Aug 08. Great field, divided into 4 smaller fields, flat, good grass, bit of sheeps poo but not bad. Fairly sheltered near high hedges. Facilities very good and clean - a fine threatened if you dont recycle! Freesing freezer blocks 25p, Showers £1. Eco-loos arnt for everyone, but normal ones are available. Owner chap very friendly and helpful. Allows BBQs and fires off the grass. Booking advisable for busy times. Alot of families and groups with kids - not a quiet campsite (although we did pick summer holidays to visit!), but everyone very friendly. Dont follow satnav! Use their website instructions to find it.

We stayed here for two nights in late July and will definitely go again. The site is eco-friendly with composting toilets and eco showers with a friendly atmosphere and relaxed feel.

They cram you into the field, but you can pitch up where you like, and the hedges (more eco-friendliness) divide the campsite up to make it feel nice and cosy.

The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk away and we walked all the way to the sandy beach at West Wittering (which took about 30 minutes). You can hire bikes from the farm, however, which we would have been glad of on the walk back after a long swim in the sea!

It's not the most picturesque campsite in the world, and it does get very busy, but it's close to London and near the beach, making it perfect for a weekend getaway.
