We stayed here 2 nights in July. It's a lovely campsite right by the beach. Small and more like wild camping but with a clean shower/toilet to use. 15 minutes from Clifden which has lots of live music, pubs etc. But the main attraction is the beach, the view and the peaceful setting amongst the sand dunes.

A beautiful campsite with superb views and a sense of seclusion. The owner is very friendly and helpful and will even reverse your caravan for you if you can't do it yourself! Definitely recommended and we hope to be back soon.

On the May bank holiday we travelled from outside Armagh to Connemara to stay at Acton's Beachside Caravan and Camping park.

The drive took around five hours but what a beautiful drive it was. The road between Westport and Clifden was quite spectacular, and the temptation to stop at several beauty spots hard to resist.

On arrival at the campsite we were greeted by the owner Kris and given the opportunity to choose our site. I found Kris most convivial and really helpful.

The campsite itself is 'au machair' a pretty name for unique flora and fauna unique to parts of Ireland and Scotland. The beach, deserted and beautiful would not look out of place in the Caribbean albiet without palm trees. Across the placid bay Omey Island glistened in the sunshine.

On the Saturday night we dined at Mitchells restaurant in Clifden on Kris's recommendation and sampled first class fayre at very reasonable rates.

I would recommend this camping site to anyone and we enjoyed it so much that we have booked to return in July. So looking forward to our return

Acton was a wonderful experience for us. We stumbled upon it by chance at the beginning of our honeymoon as we were passing through Claddaghduff leaving Connemara, and vowed to return to stay there, I'm so glad we did. Caravan sites can be so cramped, overpopulated and so often not make the most of the beautiful scenery around them, this is not the case with Acton's. The scenery is stunning, there is so much space and it has a really calm feel. There is also more beneath the surface, the owner Chris has gone to great lengths to create a Eco-friendly, uncompromising, as well as stunning experience.

Thanks Chris, we'll be back!

Just back from this site and the weather was so bad we had to leave early. However this is one of the best sites we have been to. No rules etc. Clean toilets and showers. Beautiful views, scenery and beaches. Private pitches. Cant say enough about the site. No camp fires but didnt even notice this till the next day.
