"Our site is a 2.5 acre level flat field with room for five motor homes or small caravans and about fifty pitches for tents. The site is in approx 1000 acres of woodland with a small river at one side just down an embankment. There is also a disused railway line at the other side which is now called the Calderdale Way a lovely walk that cuts through the woods from Sowerby Bridge to Ripponden .We have three toilets , two hot showers and a washing up sink we have just had installed .We have portaloo emptying facilities for caravans .We do allow campfires but we do stress that a fire must be raised off the ground so that the grass is not burnt. Some old raised barbeques are provided for this purpose depending on availability.Dogs are allowed if they are quiet and friendly"

I called Chris the site owner first thing Saturday morning (7th march),and asked if we were able to camp this weekend. He said that they were closed but as there were just me and my girlfriend he would be more than happy to let us on the site. The site is basic but has hot showers and toilets available with somewhere to clean pots and pans. the site backs on to a lovely wood where you can walk the disused train track or walk further up the valley. a river runs at the back too a short walk in to the woods and down the bank and you are there. It is possible to get firewood from a local garage so that you can use the open fire facilities. Chris has a collection of washing machine drums that fit over the many breeze blocks so as not to burn the grass. Fill the thing with wood and hey presto you have your own fire. a lovely site with friendly owners,oh one word of warning there is a jack russell by the name of patch that will come to you with his ball. Whatever you do, don't throw it, he will be back more times than a Vietnamese loan shark! Thanks to Chris and his Dad we will be back.

Lovely campsite midweek, but the drinkers and loud camping neighbours in general make it less pleasant at weekends. Parking (at weekends) can also be very busy. Lovely location and owners, but not returning at weekends with children. The field also has poor drainage- very wet underfoot in the rain!

to add to previous review, sorry! At weekends we have counted over 80 tents very crowded into the field.I recommend taking owners mobile number so if problems you can contact them ( e.g. unbearable noise after midnight despite 11 pm quiet time, dogs not restrained, etc). washing up/shower/toilet facilities basic but clean, and free to use.
