A small, approximately 1 acre, private site for campers, caravans, and motorhomes nestling in the foot hills of the Peak District. The camping field itself occupies a raised position and offers panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. The field is bordered by secure fencing beyond which is lush meadow farm land. Tents and caravans can be pitched informally around the edge of the camping area, leaving the centre free for recreational pursuits. New for 2006 there is an onsite toilet block to include 2 individual private shower rooms, toilet cubicles and washroom comprising 3 wash basins, mirrors and power point for hair dryers. In addition to the toilet block you will find a water point, vegetable preparation/dishwashing area , motor van waste discharge point and picnic benches. A fridge/freezer service is available at the pub bar for perishable food and cool packs.

Views very good. Don't fill your boot with wood - Fires are not allowed!! Take a wind break instead.

Well it was first for me. Being abused by a campsite owner is not my idea of fun. There were no warm welcomes here and no recommendations from me either. It should be so different. This is a small campsite with fantastic views. The facilities are basic but OK. Their website advertises space in the middle for recreational persuits but on our visit there were too many tents for children to have any space to play. The site is attached to a pub, which advertises a restaurant, games room and entertainment. There was an Elvis band playing on the Saturday night which was popular but the restaurant was closed and the games room locked. The main problem though seems to be with families. There is a lack of space in the campsite for children to play. Our children climbed the trees until a sign mysteriously appeared telling them not to. Fair enough. Until the owner came out to tell them that if they played there again they would be thrown off the site. So our children retreated to the field next door, playing by the public footpath. But that invoked further ire from the owner and the verbal barrage we received on our departure including false accusations of damaging hay bales stored in a different part of the field. Guess what. We won't be going back.

me and my 5 friends went to stay at the wild boar in for three days, before our arrival, we had arranged by telephone that the owner Val would prepare food for us everyday that we were there, we got there on a Sunday and they served food until 8 so we had something light expecting food the next two days only to find out they wouldn't provide us with food leaving us hungry for two whole days. On the Monday night we went down to buy some alcohol to take back up to the tent,as we came into the pub the atmosphere had totally changed they demanded the money for the accommodation and didn't give us very good camping experience at all. Also whilst camping at the site we found a large number of dog fouls around the site which had not be removed. The picture's advertised do not reflect the size or image of the place, the field is very small and i wouldn't recommend staying there at all! there is no electricity provided, so for the whole three days we lived of crisps and fizzy pop leaving us very ill. the washing facilities were not up to scratch the womens did not have a lock on the door so any member of the public could have walked in when showering and also there was dead creatures all around the shower room. All in all the camp owner were not considerate at all of there customers just out to get the money they are owed, in my opinion do not stay at this camp site!
