I really love Side Farm - this is on the shore of Lake Ullswater at Patterdale, so you can go for a swim if the weather picks up (ha!) or just hang out on their mini-beach. The campsite's a bit slopy and has a stream through the middle, but it's pretty much worth it. The biking round there is bloody excellent as well, really good lakeside routes one way, or off into valleys and mountains the other way. I've biked from that site a few times. You can walk up Helvellyn if you're feeling really energetic, or up over Boredale Hause to Angle Tarn just out the back of the campsite for a littler walk, or get the steamboat to Howtown and do the flattish 5-mile walk back along the lakeside...... ah happy times.....!
