Hello happy campers! Here are some photos taken last year at the lovely Red Squirrell campsite in Glen Coe. Brilliant site, beautiful scenery, great to have a fire to keep the midges away! Another good thing is the legendary Clachaig Inn is only five minutes walk away!! Happy camping!!! lesxx.

A very favourite place - what more could you want in life - surrounded by fantastic hills, an easy stagger to real ale, malt whisky and live music heaven at the Clachaig Inn...splash on the Skin-So-Soft and let the midges do their worst!

Fantastic scenery! No statics! Great to have a campfire although they do come round at about 11.30 and ask you to put it out even if your not making any noise. Facilities could be alittle better. Look a bit cobbled together out of what ever they could find. Could be a little cleaner too. Still overall one of my favortie sites. I hate it when your parked on top of each other. Used a lot by walker, climber and bikers.

Just spent 5 days in this campsite in the rain. The toilets and showers are pretty basic but if you can cope with that it is worth it. This is probably the best campsite I've ever stayed at: you pitch your tent among trees and you are allowed fires. Wood can be gathered from the woodland at the end of the road or you can buy peat and logs from the village shop which is a mile and three quarters away. There is also a really nice pub a mile away in the other direction, and it does food and coffee and often has live music at night. I spent my evenings poking my fire with sticks and drinking wine and that helped keep the midges at bay. You will need midge repellant but you can buy that at the kiosk and again in the village. Very informal and you can pitch where you want and everyone is very nice. Lots of pretty walks too which are short or if you fancy a longer one you can do part of the west highland way. It's very rural and there are no banks (the village shop charges you 50p to get cash back so you're better off making sure you bring money with you) and the shop puts a notice up to tell you when a delivery is due in, but it sells most things. On the way to it you drive through the Highlands and that is stunning. It is definitely worth going to.

Just spent a night here before walking up Ben Nevis! Was lovely, brillant pub close by, pitched our tent surrounded by mountains and trees. The facilities are clean and totally adequte, although a bit basic! Hope to return sometime...

We had read about Red Squirrel Campsite so decided to head straight there on our first day in Scotland! Good thing is you don't have to book unless its a big group and you can pay each night so very flexible. The site is basic but has the facilities you need and you can have fires....these are essential if you go in a wet August like we did because of the dreaded midges!!!!! Unfortunately as it was so wet the midges were overwhelming and in the wet valley our tent leaked (I think we didn't pitch very well whilst being eaten alive) so we only stayed one night then went on. Would go again though...out of midge season!

20/21.03.09 Great campsite...just held a stag party there and its was brilliant + the legendary Clachaig Inn ...what an atmosphere.....best pub in the country bar none. One complaint....just don't plan to leave any rubbish bigger than a crisp packet. The grumpy guy that runs the place will want you to pay to have it remove. He collected approx £343 quid from our party alone ....and we left the site cleaner than we found it and he still complained. He shouldn't be in charge if that's his attitude toward people.

I stayed at the red squirrel campsite Friday the 8th of May after discovering the Happy Campers website! It was perfect little place, although it rained from when I arrived until I departed the following morning! The showers and toilets are fine, I do a lot of wild camping so to wake up and have a hot shower is a big bonus although make sure you have a 50p as there is a meter! the pub is 5 mins down the road and a busy wee place, I was tempted to stay the following night as they have bands on Saturday but to wet! I only stayed for an hour and headed back to the comfort of my tent and my carry out from the local shop which has plenty of supplies both food and beverage! Although there was a lot of noise around midnight when people were returning from the pub, however the fact the rain was bouncing off the tent it didn't disturb me! My MAIN and only concern was that someone nicked two of my pegs and either they only required 2 or they heard me inside the tent, I think this is well out of order, these were proper rock pegs for hard ground and I always carry spares and would help out a fellow camper, I feel that anyone that creeps around someones tent in the middle of the night is a bit weird, there could have been young kids or single females inside! I just hope this person reads this review and takes on board that is a very selfish act and they should have more consideration for fellow campers in the future! Apart from that, look forward to return with some friends in the not too distant future!

Looking to head up to this campsite again, but was peeed off at the grumpy jobsworth there not only asking us to put fire out at 11pm but dousing it with water!!!! The only thing to keep the midges at bay and get a bit heat.... will try again as the site is ideally located.
