Brilliant place, stunning setting, pick of 3 fields to pop your tent in, no pitches so totally free to roam and choose the perfec spot. V quiet site, in fact we were the only ones there; magic. Bob the owner v friendly and keeps chickens and has organic meat to sell. Lovely walks nearby and village pub 20 mins away. ok site has limited services (eg a hose for water and a compost loo, thats your lot) but a v mellow place. We liked it a lot.

Had a lovely weekend camp here. A huge field to choose your spot, brazier and wood supplied for that all important night time camp fire and a real back to basics(!!) compost toilet complete with roosting hens for company at night. Mary looked after us, did the washing for a modest fee, ditto a warm shower. She also regaled us with lots of local history, tales, anecdotes and advice. Beautiful location and lovely, helpful owner - highly recommended.

A really fantastic back to basics site on a working farm. Just cold water taps and a compost toilet for facilities but don't let this put your off.

Situated just outside the pretty village of Kniveton, the owners of the farm Mary and Bob are friendly and welcoming although do book in advance.

Bob sells thee most decicious organic steak, burgers, lamb and fresh hen and duck eggs. The top of the main field has a flat spot for pitching and great views towards the peaks. They allow campfires and you pay a small fee towards firewood. We visited two weekend in a row!

Allows campervans and tents only.

Idyllic, peaceful, basic, no midgies or mozzies, lovely people and a beautiful part of England. Spent a week here and there was a camper van at the bottom of the field too for a couple of nights. So if you want to get away...... Fantastic view from above the quarry beyond the top of the field.

I love it here, we've been several times and I love it more every time although we've been so lucky with the weather enjoying many a sunny day. The site is a working farm and facilities are quite basic but that adds to its charm and you do wake up with your tent surrounded by sheep and cows! Groups and fires are allowed and we've spent many nights around a gorgeous fire putting the world to rights with beer and good friends. Definitely worth a visit and the site is massive so you're never close to anyone so can make a bit of noise without disturbing anyone else!

We stayed here in August 2008, had a great time despite initial fears about the basic facilities. Lovely farm, lovely people. We bought delicious sausages and burgers from the farm, also had a fantastic fire going. Kids had a fab time running around the farm. We hope to return some time :)

Stay at this site for the Easter weekend and it was glorious! Set just outside of a lovely little village and surrounded by spectacular views. Would recommend it to anyone! PLEASE PLEASE make sure you take supplies with you as there are no shops in Kniveton (a lovely little pub to have a pint in half way through the village tho!). Camp fires allowed and the site is so big, even over Easter weekend we were miles away from anyone else. Toilet facilties are basic (a bucket with a plank of wood over...NOT NICE) so i'd recommend taking baby wipes and going behind a tree! There are also no washing facilities but the site is so beautiful, a baby wipe and a car of lager to rinse your teeth with is all thats needed! 10/10 for a fab weekend!

Had a quick one-night stay at this campsite. Lovely and spacious, as previously mentioned the choice of fields means you are miles apart from other campers and have the choice whether to be in with the sheep and geese or not! The braziers and firewood on sale mean a camp-fire is easy and safe. Great location in that it feels like a real rural escape but still a managable drive from Ashbourne for shops etc.
