This is a new, small and basic farm campsite with just two loos/ showers which are new and clean.
The owners are very friendly and went out of their way to make us welcome. You are allowed campfires and to collect your own wood from the surrounding woodland which was great. Fire containers are provided.
They have chickens, noisy geese (cute, but not at 4.30 am!), sheep, donkeys etc.
The field is quite sloping and sadly it is right next to a busy road so it is pretty noisy most of the time. There are pretty villages around etc. The farm sells its own chicken and duck eggs.
We were one of just two tents there at the time so we had lots of space and privacy which was great. The combined loos / showers will be a problem with any more than a handful of campers.

We just got back from a lovely night in Morgay Wood. Everything in the review above is true, but having happy animals roaming freely about is worth a little noise... The camp site is a great middle ground between being being left to your own devices in a field and having facilites - fresh eggs and a loo are always welcome! We cycled from Robertsbridge which is a really pretty village (worth an explore itself). From the campsite we took a rambling walk though a beautiful bluebell wood, over a river and into a small village pub with 12 hour roast pork and for pudding local honeycomb ice cream... yumma! Oh and the family that run the site are really friendly and helpful.

Hi, I woke up on the Sunday morning of the bank holiday weekend and decided that enough was enough and camping it must be. This would have been easier if we were at home, with all the required equipment but we were in Ray's student house and all we had was a blow up bed. So, we went to a well known supermarket and got a 'value' tent for £7.50 and a torch; looked up a campsite on the happy campers website and went to Hastings. Upper Morgay Wood wasn't the greatest campsite in the world but they let you have fires and were able to accommodate us at short notice. It's a quirky little place and chickens and geese wander around the site. The chickens were very friendly, although I was a bit scared of running over them in the car. The campsite is next to a road but it wasn't as noisy as we had anticipated so it wasn't too bad. Showers and toilets were clean and new, although there were only two, one for men and one for women and the £1 we put in the meter to shower the two of us seemed steep to us but would've showered a family of four had we taken one with us. We didn't get to spend too much time on site as we headed into Hastings for a folk music session but when we got back we had neighbours with a fire going which they kindly invited us to join- very pleasant indeed. The next day we headed off early to catch the local Jack in the Green celebrations, not to be missed, but before we did I was able to buy free range eggs from the site that had come straight from the chickens that had been wandering around, they were still warm and were delicious.
Sorry there aren't more photos of the site. I'm a bit rubbish, even with a point and click. The one's I've sent are of our Tesco Value Tent, the site and a chicken, our neighbours with their fire and musical instruments and a wonderful man at the Jack in the Green festival, just because he looked amazing and should, in my view, be shared. Just got back from a lovely two-night stay at Upper Morgay Wood. Although it was awfully near a road, it's a lovely little site in beautiful surroundings. Fires are welcomed and the people friendly. Sold us some wood to start with but later on gave us some for free as the night got colder!
Animals friendly to a fault. Shower block was fine, and nice and clean. I'll definitely think about going again.

We have stayed here a couple of times and found it to be wonderful but busy at peak periods.
The owner is very helpful and frinedly she never seems to stop trying to tidy the place and keep it nice for us.
It can be noisy because of the road but this soon dies down. Open fires are a treat and the walks nearby are great. toilets and showers usually well cleaned

We just spent two nights here, and loved it. I came with my 3 and 5 year old, and frankly it was worth it for the tree swing alone - hanging from a great big tree, over a dell. They must have played for 3 hours a day on it, more if we hadn't gone out!
Loved the fires - you light them in old oil drums, and wood costs £2.50 a large bag, from the owners. You can also get eggs. Facilities were clean, almost always stocked with loo roll, and with only 7 people on the site it had a lovely, open, friendly and liberating feel to it. I felt happy letting my girls wander off to see the donkeys, collect dry leaves for the fire, and run off to the swing on their own, something I'm not sure I would have felt happy about on a larger campsite.
And of course they thought marshmallows cooked on hazel twigs in the fire were just the best thing. Which they are.
The road is definitely noisy, but to be honest it didn't bother me - I guess that's something personal to each of us.
Will definitely go again!
