open: march to september

"With our own exclusive valley of lakes and wild gardens, hidden in the Green Hills of Somerset, and voted by readers of the Practical Caravan magazine as one of their favourite 100 campsites. Do you need an attractive environment ? - where the rabbits scoot about the campsite, the buzzards soar on the thermals and the waterside statue is a real heron. If traffic and trains are your norm, then your withdrawal pressures must cope with the plop of the fish, the munching of the cows and the incessant song of the blackbirds! The landscaping includes thirty individual pitches of mown grass, all adjacent a hard roadway. There are electric hook-ups; water, drainage and rubbish points. A log cabin contains basins, sinks and showers with free hot water, together with toilets and a chemical disposal unit, payphone and tourist information, all well lit after dark. Three of the lakes within the campsite have scores of carp and tench up to 20lbs for the 'fisher folk"

"Situated beside the Horner water in the glorious Horner Valley and with a view of Dunkery Beacon, Burrowhayes Farm is in the heart of the Exmoor National Park and provides a central position for touring the whole of Exmoor with its wooded valleys, streams, hills and magnificent coastal scenery. Lynton and Lynmouth and the mysterious Lorna Doone Country is a short drive away via Porlock and its famous hill. The historical picturesque little town of Dunster, with its Castle brooding on the hilltop, is also but a few miles distant. Everywhere there are quaint Exmoor villages with their thatched cottages, century old churches, pack horse bridges, and cream teas. The farm is a walkers paradise where the car can be forgotten with numerous walks leadings into the woods and onto the moors where red deer and all kinds of wildlife can be seen. There is plenty to entertain the younger members of the family too from the thrill of the pony rides to playing in the stream and exploring in the woods."
